Size guide & how to measure

Harnesses are sized by the chest (girth) — the measurement around the widest part of the ribcage, just behind the front legs.

How to measure

Stand your pet up squarely.
Wrap a soft tape around the widest part of the chest, just behind the front legs.
Keep two fingers under the tape so the fit is snug, not tight.
If your pet is between sizes, choose the larger one.

Full description

Throat pressure is the reason a lot of small dogs cough, gag and then pull harder on a collar, and on a cat it is worse still, because there is even less structure in the neck to take a load. A wide mesh panel across the chest moves that pressure onto the ribcage where it belongs, and an animal who is not being throttled has considerably less reason to fight the lead.

The vest steps on rather than going over the head, which is quicker and far less of a battle with a pet who has already decided they do not want it. Mesh is the other half of the design, because it gives a wide contact area for spreading the load while staying open enough not to act like a coat on a warm day. Reflective strips run along the sides for early winter walks, and a matching lead comes in the box, so nothing else is needed.
