A flea shampoo only has a few minutes of contact time before it's rinsed off, so what's actually in it — not just what it's marketed against — decides whether that short window does anything.

Bugalugs' shampoo is built around neem oil, alongside eucalyptus and lavender oils, in a vegan, paraben-free formula that's pH balanced and made using water from the English Lake District. It's supplied here in a 5-litre size, which is a professional or bulk quantity rather than a single-wash bottle.

On the size. 5 litres is a lot of shampoo for a single dog — this is really a groomer or multi-dog household size, and Bugalugs don't give a dilution rate or number of washes it's expected to cover, so it's a guess how far it stretches for you.

Who it's for: groomers, breeders or multi-dog households who get through shampoo fast enough that a 5-litre bottle makes sense over repeat small bottles.
