Full description

A ball that bounces unpredictably is more interesting to chase than one that just rolls, which is the small difference that separates a hard rubber ball from a plain one.

This is a hard rubber ball, 2.5 inches across, with a slight bounce to it, described by Bestpets as great for keeping a dog engaged in play. The hardness also means it holds its shape better than a softer rubber toy under a determined bite.

2.5 inches
Hard rubber construction
Slight bounce
Suited to fetch and general play

One thing worth knowing. No weight or hardness rating is given beyond "hard rubber", so for a dog that chews rather than fetches, we can't confirm how it holds up to teeth rather than just bouncing.

Who it's for: dogs that enjoy chasing a bouncing ball, rather than one primarily interested in chewing it.

Why we chose it

The slight bounce is what makes this more interesting than a completely solid, dead ball - it adds a bit of unpredictability to a chase without being a proper bouncy-ball gimmick. It's inexpensive enough to lose in the garden without much concern.
