Product description

Salmon oil in paste form rather than liquid, which solves the two problems with bottled oil: the mess, and the fact that it goes rancid once opened. It is dosed by length against body weight.

The instruction is precise and worth following: 3cm per 5kg of bodyweight, given straight into the mouth or mixed through food. So a 20kg dog gets 12cm. The composition is salmon oil with DHA and the omega 3 and 6 fatty acids, which are the reason anyone buys fish oil for a dog in the first place.

Salmon oil paste, 100g tube
3cm per 5kg of body weight
Into the mouth or over food
Complementary feed

Beaphar publish no analytical figures for the dog paste, though they do for the cat one. So you cannot see the DHA or EPA percentage for this tube, which for an oil supplement is the number that would let you compare it to anything else. We have flagged that rather than borrow the cat version's analysis.

Who it's for: dogs on a dry diet who need omega 3, and owners who have given up on pump bottles of liquid oil.

Why we chose it

A paste dosed in centimetres is the most practical form of fish oil we have found. No pump, no rancid bottle in the cupboard, and a 20kg dog gets the same amount every time.

Common questions

How much do I give?

Three centimetres of paste per 5kg of body weight. A 20kg dog gets 12cm.

How do I give it?

Beaphar say it can go straight into the mouth or be mixed into food.

How much DHA is in it?

Beaphar do not publish an analysis for the dog paste. They do for the cat version, but that is a different product and we have not carried its figures across.

Is it the same as the bottled Beaphar salmon oil?

No. The 425ml liquid is a separate product with a different dosage, given in millilitres by dog size.
