A cat that grooms itself several times a day is also swallowing fur several times a day, and malt paste treats exist because that fur has to go somewhere other than a cough on the carpet.

These are malt-paste treats aimed at helping ingested hair pass through the gut rather than building up into a hairball. Composition runs cereals, milk and milk derivatives, oils and fats, vegetable derivatives, minerals, yeasts, fish and fish derivatives, and meat and animal derivatives, with protein at 30% and fat at 8.8%.
