A working or highly active dog burns through a standard maintenance food faster than its bowl suggests, which is why a recipe pitched at active dogs tends to carry more named protein and a joint-support package built in from the start rather than as an afterthought.

Autarky's Tantalising Turkey combines turkey at a minimum 26% turkey meal plus 14% freshly prepared turkey, with potato, pea starch, turkey fat, sweet potato, full-fat linseed, peas and brewer's yeast as a postbiotic source at 0.45%. Autarky describe it as suitable for adult working dogs up to the onset of old age at around 7 years, and the joint care package includes marine algae, glucosamine and other ingredients aimed at supporting mobility. Protein is 27.0%, fat content 13.0%, crude fibre 3.0% and crude ash 7.5%.

• 12kg bag, grain-free dry food
• Turkey 26% meal plus 14% freshly prepared (40% total)
• Protein 27.0%, fat content 13.0%, crude fibre 3.0%
• Postbiotic brewer's yeast at 0.45%
• Marine algae and glucosamine included in a joint care package
• Suitable for adult working dogs up to around 7 years old

What the label does not say. Autarky pitch this specifically at working and highly active dogs "up to the onset of old age at around 7 years" — it is not marketed as a senior food beyond that point, so a dog past that age band would be better matched to a food built for older dogs rather than this one.

Who it's for: owners of an active or working adult dog under around 7 years old, wanting a grain-free recipe with a named joint-support package rather than a standard maintenance food.
