Fresh salmon at 26% as the first ingredient is what you are paying for here, and the omega-3 figure shows it landing: 0.85% is high for an everyday adult food, and it is the number behind the claims about skin and coat that every fish recipe makes.

After the salmon come dried chicken, rice at 19% and maize, with chicken oil, fish digest, yeast, whole dried egg at 1%, whole linseed at 0.5% and dried krill. Arden Grange add prebiotic FOS at 900mg/kg and MOS at 400mg/kg, plus nucleotides, yucca extract, glucosamine, MSM and chondroitin. The analysis is crude protein 25%, crude fat 15%, crude ash 7% and crude fibre 2.5%, with omega-6 at 3.1%. There is no added wheat, gluten, soy or dairy.

• Complete food for adult dogs, 12KG
• Fresh salmon 26%, the leading ingredient
• Rice 19%
• Crude protein 25%, crude fat 15%
• Omega-3 at 0.85%, omega-6 at 3.1%
• No added wheat, gluten, soy or dairy

Dried chicken is the second ingredient. That is worth catching, because a fish recipe is often chosen precisely to avoid chicken — and here it is second on the list, ahead of the rice, with chicken oil further down as well. If you are moving to salmon for the skin and coat benefit that is entirely fine; if you are moving to salmon because chicken is the problem, this is the wrong bag and Arden Grange's own fish-and-potato recipes are the ones to look at.

Who it's for: adult dogs whose coats need help, and owners who want a fish-led everyday food without going grain free.
