Supplements accumulate. One for the joints, one for the coat, one somebody recommended for the gut, and within a year there are four tubs in the cupboard, three of them have gone hard round the scoop, and the dog is getting whichever one is at the front.

AniForte's answer is a single powder with four raw materials in it, stirred into the daily meal. Brewer's yeast is the base. Rose hip husks carry 0.13% vitamin C. Jerusalem artichoke powder makes up 10% of the tub and is itself 50% inulin, a prebiotic fibre. Green lipped mussel powder is 2%, carrying 3.3% glycosaminoglycans. AniForte set those four against joints, coat and skin, stomach and intestine, and the immune system - and are careful to call the whole thing a complementary feed rather than a complete one, which is the correct description for anything that goes on top of dinner.

• 250G tub of powder
• Brewer's yeast, rosehip, Jerusalem artichoke and green lipped mussel
• Jerusalem artichoke powder at 10%, itself 50% inulin
• Green lipped mussel powder at 2%, with 3.3% glycosaminoglycans
• Rose hip husks supplying 0.13% vitamin C
• Complementary feed, added to the daily meal

The percentages tell you the shape of the tub, and it is mostly yeast. Jerusalem artichoke is 10%, green lipped mussel is 2%, and brewer's yeast carries no percentage at all - which is how you know it is the bulk of what is in your hand. If green lipped mussel is the specific thing you came for, 2% of a 250G tub is a very different proposition from a dedicated mussel product and is worth comparing before you decide. AniForte have supplied us no daily amount and no analytical constituents, so read the tub for the scoop, and take an actual joint or gut problem to a vet rather than to a supplement.

Who it's for: owners of a healthy adult dog who have drifted into buying several supplements and would rather buy one, and anyone whose dog eats a powder happily but will not take a tablet.
