What nobody has published
There is no blade count, no spare-blade part number and no source for replacements in anything supplied to us, so "replaceable" is Ancol's description rather than a plan you can make. There are no dimensions either, so if you have small hands or a very large dog there is nothing here to judge that on. And note where it is filed: The listing files this under de-shedding, while Ancol's own instructions are about stripping straggly top hair away with a blade. Those are not the same job, and if what you want is loose undercoat out of a moulting double coat, this is not the tool being described.
Why we chose it
The replaceable blade is the reason it is on the shelf: a comb you can re-blade outlasts one you bin the day it goes blunt. It also arrives in cardboard rather than a blister pack, which sounds like nothing until you are the person boxing it up to post.

Full description
Stripping is a cutting job that looks like a brushing job, which is exactly how the tools get muddled up in a grooming drawer. A slicker or a rake takes hair that has already come loose. A stripping comb carries a blade, and what comes off it comes off because the blade took it, which is worth understanding before the first pass rather than after it.
Ancol build this one around a replaceable, double-sided blade under a lockable cover; to change it you push the cover to the right to unlock it, then lift it away from the blade. Their instruction for using it is to start on a coat already free of knots and mats, then work gently along the direction the fur grows, which they say strips the straggly and unwanted hair away and leaves the coat smooth and neat. They list it for wiry, long, curly and silky coats, and it arrives in cardboard packaging Ancol describe as widely recycled.

Who it's for: owners of terriers, schnauzers, spaniels and the shaggier crossbreeds, keeping a coat tidy between professional grooms, who already know what a stripping comb does to a coat.

Common questions
What kind of coat is it for?
Ancol list wiry, long, curly and silky coats. A short flat coat is not on that list.
Can the blade really be changed?
The blade is double-sided and Ancol describe it as replaceable: push the cover to the right to unlock it and lift it away. They do not publish how many blades are supplied or where replacements come from.
How should I use it without upsetting my dog?
Ancol's own guidance is to start when the dog is relaxed, ideally after exercise, on a coat free of knots and mats; work gently with the direction of growth and avoid tugging skin; keep early sessions brief and lengthen them as the dog gets used to it; pause or stop if they become agitated.
Is this the same as a de-shedding rake?
No. Ancol describe a blade that strips straggly and unwanted hair away, which is a different action from combing out loose undercoat, even though it is filed alongside de-shedding tools.
Is the blade covered when it is not being used?
Yes. Ancol say the comb has a lockable cover over the blade, and describe it as a safety feature.
How do I clean it?
DOG GROOMING > DOG DESHEADING To ensure your dog has an enjoyable grooming session, start gently. Pause or end the grooming session if your dog becomes agitated. Grooming tips: Gro.
