A working dog between seasons, or one that has simply slowed down, does not stop needing a proper diet — it needs one built for a lower energy output, rather than a smaller portion of a food designed for a dog running all day.

Alpha's Working Maintenance recipe is built around beef meat meal (19.0%) and fish meal (1.0%), with whole wheat, wheatfeed, whole maize, poultry oil, brewers yeast, fructo-oligosaccharides (FOS) and yucca schidigera extract making up the rest. It's positioned as an energy-controlled complete diet rather than a standard adult food, with the meat and cereals cooked and blended together to keep digestion straightforward.

• Complete diet, energy controlled
• Crude protein 19.0%, crude oils & fats 8.0%, crude fibres 3.0%, crude ash 8.0%
• Beef meat meal (19.0%) and fish meal (1.0%)
• Suitable for dogs with lower energy requirements
• 15KG sack

On who it suits. This is built for dogs with lower energy needs — overweight, less active or resting from work — rather than as an everyday food for a dog in full work. Alpha make other recipes for actively working and racing dogs; feeding this to one instead would likely under-fuel it.

Who it's for: owners of an adult dog that needs to maintain or lose weight, or one resting between working seasons, rather than an actively working or growing dog.
