Dog Wipes

Paws are the headline act: a few wipes by the door after a wet walk save endless mopping and stop salt, grit and pollen being tracked through the house or licked off later. Wipes are equally handy for a quick freshen of a grubby coat, a dusty face fold, or a daily wipe of a flat-faced breed’s wrinkles where moisture and debris like to gather.

They also handle the less glamorous jobs — tidying up a long-coated dog’s rear after a toilet trip, or cleaning a senior dog who’s had a little accident — quickly and with minimal fuss. Keep a pack at home, one in the car and one in your walking bag, and a lot of small mess problems simply stop being problems.

Dog skin is more sensitive and a different pH to ours, so reach for wipes formulated for pets rather than baby or surface wipes, which can contain alcohol or fragrances that irritate or that you don’t want your dog ingesting. Fragrance-free, alcohol-free options with soothing additives like aloe or oatmeal suit sensitive or itchy skin best, and they spare you a perfumed dog you didn’t ask for.

If sustainability matters to you, look for biodegradable or plant-based wipes — and crucially, never flush any wipe, including those labelled flushable, as they block UK drains and pollute waterways; bin them instead. A resealable pack keeps the wipes from drying out, which is the usual reason a tub gets thrown away half-used.
