Fleece is warm, breathable and usually not waterproof
The fibres trap warm air and dry faster than a heavy knit, which makes fleece useful after a cool walk or around a draughty home. Unless the product includes a waterproof outer, it will still absorb sustained rain.
For layering, check that the outer coat remains loose through the chest and shoulders. Two tight layers restrict movement and trap less useful air than one correctly fitted layer.
Check the leg openings before removing the labels
Walk the dog around indoors and watch the armpits and shoulder line. The fleece should not pull backwards, rub the front legs or roll under the chest. Keep it clean and dry wherever it sits against the skin.

Most are not. Fleece provides warmth and dries relatively quickly; choose a fleece-lined waterproof coat when rain protection is also required.
Can a dog wear a fleece indoors?
Yes if the dog is comfortable and not overheating. A light, well-fitted fleece can help short-coated, older and cold-sensitive dogs.
How do I size a dog fleece?
