Who makes Wahl grooming products
Wahl is an American company, founded in 1919 by Leo J. Wahl and still headquartered in Sterling, Illinois, best known for hair clippers before it expanded into a wider grooming range that includes products for pets. It remains a long-established, family-linked manufacturer rather than a newer brand licensing out its name.
A bit of the brand's background
Wahl built its early reputation on electric hair clippers for barbers and home use, and that clipper expertise carried over naturally into pet grooming, where the same cutting technology is used to trim and shave coats. The pet range now covers clippers and blades alongside everyday grooming items like shampoos, conditioners and nail care tools.
The company has stayed under long-term, stable ownership rather than changing hands repeatedly, which is part of why its clippers and blades have kept a consistent reputation among groomers over many decades. It also supplies professional groomers as well as home users, which is part of why the same blade and clipper systems turn up in both settings.
What we stock, and who it suits
Our range includes a selection of Wahl grooming and nail-care products, from nail clippers to grooming shampoos, alongside professional clipper blades. What is shown in the grid above reflects what we currently have in, which can shift as our own stock does.
It suits owners who want a grooming brand with a long track record behind the equipment they are trusting near their pet's skin, whether that is a nail trim at home or a full coat clip. As with any grooming tool, checking your pet is comfortable and going slowly the first few times matters more than which brand you choose.
If you are new to clipping or trimming at home, starting with a nail clipper or a gentle shampoo rather than a full clipper set is a reasonable way to build your pet's confidence before introducing anything noisier or more involved.

Common questions
- Is Wahl an American or a British company?
- Wahl is an American company, founded in 1919 and still headquartered in Sterling, Illinois. It sells internationally, including in the UK, but its origins and head office remain in the United States.
- Does Wahl only make clippers?
- No, while clippers are what the brand is best known for, Wahl also makes a wider grooming range including shampoos, conditioners and nail-care tools, both for people and for pets.
- Are Wahl pet products made by the same company as Wahl hair clippers for people?
- Yes, Wahl's pet grooming range is part of the same company that makes its well-known clippers for people, drawing on the same clipper and blade technology adapted for animal coats.
- Does Giddy Pets stock every Wahl product?
- No, we stock a selection from the range rather than everything Wahl makes. What is shown in the grid above reflects what we currently have available to order, and that changes as stock does.
- Are Wahl clipper blades interchangeable across pet clipper models?
- Not always — blade compatibility depends on the specific clipper model, so check the fitting stated on the blade or clipper before buying a replacement. Wahl's own product listings usually state which models a given blade fits.
