Wahl Frogmouth Grooming Holdall

Grooming kit does not stay together on its own. Scissors, combs, a slicker, blade oil and a bottle of something end up in a drawer and come out one at a time, and the thing you cannot find is always the one you need with a wet dog already on the table.

This is a holdall built around its opening. The frogmouth mouth stays wide while you reach into it, rather than a zip you have to hold apart with one hand, and that is most of what you are paying for. Wahl give the outside as 32 x 26 x 27cm, there are six internal pockets, and the shell is shower proof — enough for the walk between a van and a door, or a damp grooming room.

What the specification does not tell you. Wahl publish the three outside dimensions but do not say which figure is the height, and they publish nothing at all about the pockets — no sizes, no note on whether any of them is meant to hold shears safely. There is no material named and no weight limit either, so if you carry heavy clippers, judge it on the 32 x 26 x 27cm and on the price, not on our say-so.

Who it's for: mobile groomers, anyone doing their own dog at home who has more kit than a drawer will organise, and people who take tools to shows and want them in one bag rather than four.
