Cutting into the quick is the single thing that makes owners dread trimming their own pet's nails, and most of what separates a good nail clipper from a bad one comes down to how hard that mistake is to make.

This is a stainless-steel bladed nail clipper with a safety stop guard built in to reduce the risk of overcutting, plus semi-circular indentations on the blade for better visibility of where you're cutting. A spring mechanism reduces hand fatigue through repeated use, and a safety lock keeps it closed in storage.

One thing worth knowing. A safety guard reduces the risk of cutting the quick; it doesn't remove it. Wahl's own advice is to trim small sections at a time and go carefully, especially on a nail you can't see the quick through clearly.

Who it's for: an owner who trims their own cat's or dog's nails at home and wants a proper safety guard rather than a plain blade, especially if nail trims make them nervous.
