Vetbed non-slip bedding

Vetbed is the fleece bedding you'll recognise from vet practices and rescue centres — a deep-pile synthetic fleece backed with a solid, non-slip layer. The non-slip version is the practical choice for a hard floor, a crate or a car boot, where a plain fleece mat tends to bunch up or slide the moment a dog lies down on it.

What makes it different from an ordinary fleece bed

The fleece top is the same idea as any soft pet bedding: warm, quick-drying and comfortable against skin, which matters for older dogs, puppies and anyone recovering from an operation or lying on a hard surface for long periods. What sets Vetbed apart is the backing, a solid non-slip layer that keeps the whole mat anchored on tile, laminate or the ridged plastic base of a crate.

It's machine washable at 40 degrees, dries fast because it doesn't hold water the way a stuffed bed does, and most of the range we stock is made from around 95% recycled content. Sizes run from a 75 x 50cm mat up to a 150 x 100cm one, so it works for anything from a crate liner to a full-length car boot mat.

What we stock, and who it suits

Our range covers plain and printed options, including paw prints, hearts, stars, bees and a Highland cow design, mostly in charcoal or grey rather than bright colours. Sizes vary by print, so check the options on each listing before ordering if you need a specific fit for a crate or car boot.

This is a good match for crate training, whelping boxes, car travel, or simply a hard-floored room where a normal bed keeps sliding. It suits owners who want something they can wash weekly without it falling apart, rather than the plushest bed in the shop — for that, our regular dog beds are the better place to look.

Common questions

Is Vetbed suitable for puppies?
Yes, it's commonly used for crate training and whelping precisely because it's warm, washes easily and won't slide around while a puppy is finding its feet. Check the size against your crate before ordering, since prints and sizes vary across the range.
Can I put Vetbed in a washing machine?
Yes, it's designed to be machine washed, generally at 40 degrees, and dries much faster than a padded or stuffed bed because the fleece itself doesn't hold much water. Always check the individual product's care label before the first wash.
Why is the backing non-slip?
The solid backing stops the mat sliding on hard floors, in a car boot or inside a plastic crate base, where an ordinary fleece mat would bunch up as soon as a dog settles onto it. It's the main reason Vetbed is used in vet practices and rescue kennels rather than a standard throw.
Is Vetbed only for dogs?
It's most commonly used for dogs, but the same non-slip fleece works for cats and other small pets too, particularly in a carrier or crate. Pick the size that suits the space rather than the species.
