Science Selective food
Science Selective is a small animal food range built around a single, uniform pellet rather than a mixed bowl of different pieces. We stock a selection from the range for rabbits, guinea pigs and other small pets as one of the everyday complete foods on our shelves.
You might also want to browse bowls that slow fast eaters down, lick mats for frozen treats and cat water fountains.
Who Science Selective are
Science Selective's approach is a single-pellet design rather than a muesli-style mix of different shapes and colours. The idea behind it is straightforward: a mixed bowl lets a small pet pick out the tasty bits and leave the rest, which can mean an unbalanced diet even from a nutritionally complete bag, while a single pellet removes that choice.
This single-pellet approach is widely recommended by vets and rescues for rabbits and guinea pigs specifically because it stops selective feeding, which is one of the more common causes of an unbalanced diet in small pets kept on a mixed food.
The range is also formulated with life stage and species in mind rather than one generic small-pet pellet, since a rabbit, a guinea pig and other small pets do not all need the same balance of fibre and nutrients.
What we stock, and who it suits
Our range includes Science Selective foods formulated for rabbits and for guinea pigs, alongside the wider small pet section covering hay, treats and accessories. We stock a selection from the wider range rather than every product, and what is shown in the grid above is what is currently available to order.
This is a brand that tends to suit owners who want a straightforward, nutritionally complete food without the risk of their pet picking around a mixed bowl. As with any small pet food, hay should still make up the largest part of the diet alongside it, with pellets and fresh greens making up a smaller measured portion each day.

Common questions
- Is Science Selective good for rabbits?
- It is a widely recommended type of food for rabbits, largely because the single-pellet design stops them picking out favourite pieces and leaving the rest, which can happen with a mixed muesli-style food. It should still be fed alongside plenty of hay rather than as the main part of the diet.
- Does Giddy Pets stock the whole Science Selective range?
- No, we stock a selection from the range rather than every product Science Selective makes. What is shown in the grid above reflects what we currently have available to order, and that can change as stock does.
- Can guinea pigs and rabbits eat the same Science Selective food?
- No, rabbits and guinea pigs have different nutritional needs — guinea pigs need dietary vitamin C, for example, which rabbits do not require in the same way. Choose the food formulated for your specific pet rather than assuming they are interchangeable.
- How much Science Selective should I feed?
- Follow the feeding guide on the pack, based on your pet's weight, and remember that hay should still make up the largest part of the diet alongside a measured portion of pellets and fresh greens.
