A chinchilla's teeth never stop growing, so the fibre in its everyday food is doing dental work as much as feeding it, and a diet that lets a chinchilla pick out the tasty bits and leave the rest defeats that purpose entirely.

This is a single baked recipe — Science Selective's answer to that selective-feeding problem, since there is nothing separate to pick out — built from lucerne meal (alfalfa), soya hulls, wheat, soybean meal, wheatfeed, extruded locust beans, dried parsley, dried plantain and linseed, with added vitamins and trace minerals. It's a complete food, coming out at 16% protein, 19% fibre, 3% fat, 7% ash, 0.8% calcium and 0.4% phosphorus, and is sold here in a 1.5kg pack.

On "100% beneficial" fibre. Supreme describe the fibre in this food as 100% beneficial, but the card doesn't define what that means numerically or break the ingredient list down by proportion beyond the analysis above — treat it as the brand's own description rather than a measured figure.

Who it's for: chinchilla owners who want a single-recipe staple diet built around dental wear and high fibre, rather than a muesli-style mix a chinchilla can sort through.
