Science Selective Degu Food

Degus can't make their own vitamin C and are prone to diabetes if given too much sugar, which are two quite specific dietary needs for what looks, from the outside, like just another small rodent — and it's why a degu-specific food is worth choosing over a generic small animal mix.

This is a single baked recipe, built to stop selective feeding, made from timothy hay, wheat, soya hulls, flaked peas, soybean meal, barley, linseed, calcium carbonate and soya oil, with dried basil and dried broccoli added along with vitamin C at 500mg/kg. Science Selective say it has zero added sugar. It comes out at 14% protein, 15% fibre, 3.5% fat, 5.5% ash, 1.0% calcium and 0.5% phosphorus, and is sold in 350g and 1.5kg packs.

What the label does not say. The full ingredient and additive list on our card is cut off partway through the trace minerals (it ends mid-way through a copper compound), so there may be further additions Science Selective list on the pack itself that we can't confirm here.
