Is FleaSolve any good?
FleaSolve is a straightforward fipronil-based spot-on flea and tick treatment, sold as a general sale product rather than something that needs a vet's say-so, and it does what a spot-on of this type is designed to do. Whether it is the right choice for your pet depends more on getting the right pack for their size than on the brand name itself.
What FleaSolve is
FleaSolve uses fipronil, an active ingredient used across a lot of well-known spot-on flea and tick treatments, applied as a liquid to a parted patch of fur rather than given by mouth. The manufacturer states four weeks of protection against fleas and ticks per application, which is in line with what this type of product typically offers.
It is classified as a general sale product, meaning it can be sold and bought without a vet or pharmacist needing to authorise it, unlike some of the stronger prescription-only flea treatments. That does not mean it should be used casually — always check the pack matches your pet's size before applying it, and follow the instructions in the box.
What we stock
We stock FleaSolve spot-on treatments sized for different dog weights, from smaller dogs up to very large breeds, plus a version made for cats. Because it is sold by weight band rather than one size fitting all, the pack you need depends on your pet's size — check the packaging against your pet's current weight before buying, and if in doubt, ask your vet which band is right.
As with any flea treatment, a spot-on works best as part of a routine rather than a one-off. Fleas and ticks are a year-round risk in most of the UK now rather than a purely summer problem, so regular, correctly timed applications matter more than which specific brand you use.

Common questions
- What is the active ingredient in FleaSolve?
- Fipronil, the same active ingredient used in a number of other well-known spot-on flea and tick treatments. It is applied to the skin rather than given by mouth, and the manufacturer states it gives around four weeks of protection per application.
- Do I need a vet to buy FleaSolve?
- No, it is sold as a general sale product, so it does not need a vet's prescription or a pharmacist's authorisation. That said, if you are unsure which pack size suits your pet, or your pet has a known sensitivity, it is worth asking your vet.
- Does FleaSolve work on cats as well as dogs?
- Yes, we stock a version made specifically for cats alongside the dog range. Always use the product made for the correct species and never apply a dog treatment to a cat, since the concentrations are formulated differently.
- How do I know which FleaSolve pack to buy?
- FleaSolve is sold in different packs sized for different dog weight bands, so check your dog's current weight against the packaging before you buy rather than guessing from their breed. If you are unsure, your vet can confirm which size is appropriate.
