Cookhouse

Cookhouse makes wet food and treats for both cats and dogs, running from everyday jelly and gravy pouches through to pate, terrines and freeze-dried treats. It sits in the mid-range of the wet food shelf rather than at either the budget or premium extreme, with a broader cat range than dog.

What Cookhouse makes

The cat side of the range is the larger one, covering fillets in jelly, pate and terrine textures, luxury puree licks meant as a treat rather than a meal, and freeze-dried duck breast for cats who prefer something drier and more concentrated. The dog range is smaller, built around chicken breast and fish fillets in jelly, some with added vegetables and rice.

It is a food-and-treat brand rather than a dry kibble one — everything in the range is wet, freeze-dried or a soft treat, so it suits owners feeding wet as the main diet or topping up a dry food with something more textured.

What we stock, and who it suits

Our shelf includes the chicken breast and fish fillet pouches for dogs, and a wider spread for cats covering the fillet, pate, puree and freeze-dried lines. That reflects Cookhouse's own range weighting rather than a gap on our part — cats are simply where most of the brand's variety sits.

It suits an owner who wants variety in texture and flavour across a rotation of pouches, rather than committing to one recipe long term, and the puree licks and freeze-dried treats work well as an occasional extra alongside a main diet rather than as the diet itself.

Multi-pack pouches are aimed at cats and dogs eating a full wet meal at each sitting, so check pack sizes against how much your own pet normally eats — a single pouch is portioned for an average adult, and a smaller or larger animal may need adjusting up or down from that.

Common questions

Is Cookhouse a complete food or a treat?
Both, depending on the product. The fillet, pate and terrine pouches are formulated as complete meals, while the luxury licks and freeze-dried treats are meant as an extra rather than a full meal on their own — check the individual pack, since the range covers both.
Does Cookhouse make dry food?
No, the range is wet food, freeze-dried treats and soft treats rather than kibble. If you want to feed Cookhouse alongside a dry food, it works well as a topper or separate wet meal rather than a replacement for kibble.
Is the Cookhouse dog range as big as the cat range?
No, cats have considerably more variety in the Cookhouse range, covering several textures and flavours, while the dog side is a smaller selection built around chicken and fish fillets in jelly.
Can I mix Cookhouse pouches with different flavours in one week?
Yes, rotating flavours within the same range is generally fine for most cats and dogs once they are used to the food, though it is sensible to introduce any genuinely new food or brand gradually rather than switching everything overnight.
