Burns grain free dog food
Burns is a UK dog food brand built around simple, easily digestible recipes, and its grain-free options swap out cereal for alternative carbohydrate sources such as potato. We carry a selection from the grain-free range, including sensitive adult and senior recipes in duck and turkey.
Burns' approach to grain-free
Burns has built its reputation on straightforward, easily digestible recipes rather than chasing trends, and its grain-free options follow the same philosophy — cereal is replaced with potato as the main carbohydrate, alongside a single named protein, rather than reformulating the whole recipe around novel ingredients.
Grain-free is not automatically better than a grain-inclusive recipe for every dog. It suits dogs with a specific sensitivity to grain, or owners who have chosen it as a preference, rather than being something every dog needs.
What we stock, and who it suits
Our range includes Burns Sensitive Grain Free Adult/Senior Duck & Potato and the Turkey & Potato equivalent, both aimed at dogs who do better on a simpler, single-protein recipe. What is shown in the grid above reflects what we currently have available to order from the wider Burns range.
This tends to suit dogs with a known or suspected grain sensitivity, older dogs on the sensitive formulas specifically, and owners who have already decided grain-free is the right direction for their dog, rather than being a first port of call for every puppy or young adult.
Switching your dog onto it
As with any food change, introduce a Burns grain-free recipe gradually over a week or so, mixing it in growing amounts with whatever your dog currently eats rather than swapping in one go.
If your dog does not settle onto the new food within that transition period, or seems unwell in any way, go back to their previous food and speak to your vet rather than persisting with something that clearly does not agree with them.

Common questions
- Is grain-free dog food better than grain-inclusive?
- Not automatically — grain-free suits dogs with a specific sensitivity to grain or owners who prefer it, but there is no established benefit for every dog. A well-formulated grain-inclusive food is perfectly suitable for most dogs without a grain-related issue.
- Does Giddy Pets stock the whole Burns range?
- No, we stock a selection, including the grain-free sensitive recipes, rather than every food Burns makes. What is available to order can change as stock does, so the grid above reflects what we currently carry.
- Is Burns grain-free suitable for puppies?
- The specific recipes we carry are formulated for adult and senior dogs rather than puppies. Check the individual product page for the life stage a recipe is intended for before choosing it, and speak to your vet if you are unsure.
- How do I know if my dog needs a grain-free food?
- A genuine grain sensitivity is usually identified through a proper elimination process guided by your vet, rather than guessed at. If you suspect a sensitivity, that conversation is the right starting point before committing to a grain-free diet long term.
