Coats and harnesses get grouped together here because a lot of dogs wear both on the same walk — a waterproof layer against the weather and a harness to clip the lead to, rather than the collar. They solve different problems, so it's worth thinking about them separately even when you're buying both at once.
What's in this part of the shop
On the coat side, our range runs from lightweight fleece-lined layers to fully waterproof raincoats with a reflective finish, plus a few coats built with a harness ring or an integrated harness already sewn in for dogs who find separate straps fiddly. Sizes generally run from extra small up to larger builds, so measure before you buy rather than guessing from your dog's weight alone.
On the harness side, we carry padded vest-style harnesses, mesh harnesses for warmer weather, and no-pull designs like the Halti, which redirect a dog's pulling rather than tightening around the throat the way a collar can under strain.
How to choose between them, and how to size
A coat is about warmth and staying dry — worth it for short-coated, older or smaller dogs in particular, who lose heat faster than a thick-coated breed. A harness is about control and comfort on the lead, and is generally kinder on the neck than a collar for a dog who pulls, though it doesn't replace training for pulling itself.
For sizing either one, measure your dog rather than relying on breed name — chest girth for a harness, and length from collar to base of tail plus a rough chest measurement for a coat. A too-tight harness can rub under the front legs, and a too-loose one is a dog that can back out of it, so check the fit properly once it arrives rather than assuming the size chart got it right first time.

Common questions
- Should my dog wear a harness instead of a collar?
- Many owners prefer a harness for lead walks because it spreads pressure across the chest rather than the throat, which matters most for a dog who pulls or has a sensitive neck. A collar is still useful for ID tags and is not something a harness needs to replace entirely.
- Does my dog need a coat if they have a thick coat already?
- Often not for warmth, though a waterproof layer can still help keep a long or thick coat from getting soaked and heavy on a wet walk, which takes longer to dry at home. Short-coated, older, or very small dogs benefit from a coat's warmth the most.
- How do I know if a harness fits properly?
- You should be able to fit two flat fingers between the straps and your dog's body at the chest and girth, with no rubbing under the front legs once your dog moves. If it slides around or your dog can back out of it, it's the wrong size or the wrong style for their build.
- Can a coat be worn under a harness?
- Yes, most coats and harnesses are designed to be worn together, though it's worth checking the fit with both on rather than assuming — a coat adds bulk that can change how a harness sits. Some of our coats have a built-in harness ring specifically to avoid layering two separate pieces.
