Fish-based treats often smell strong enough that owners notice before the dog even gets near the bag, which is usually a sign of how much actual fish is in it rather than a flavouring.

On feeding a fish treat alongside a fish-based main diet. No caution is given on the card either way, but if your dog already eats an oily-fish diet, this adds another dose of that same protein on top rather than variety away from it — worth thinking about if you're trying to broaden what they eat rather than repeat it.

Who it's for: owners of a dog that does well on fish, wanting a near-single-protein salmon treat rather than a mixed-meat one.

Woolf Salmon Chunkies

Why we chose it

Salmon at 91% with only a little pea protein alongside it keeps this close to a single-ingredient treat. It suits a dog already doing well on fish protein rather than one you're trying to introduce it to for the first time.
