A dog that reacts badly to chicken needs an alternative that is genuinely built without it, not one that just doesn't mention chicken on the front of the bag, which is why the actual ingredient list matters more than the marketing on a single-protein food.

Vitalin's Lamb with Mint recipe is built around lamb at 36.5% — dried lamb, freshly prepared lamb and lamb gravy — with potato, sweet potato, rapeseed oil, whole peas, sugar beet, dried carrot, dried parsnip and added glucosamine among the other ingredients. Vitalin describe it explicitly as a single animal protein source recipe, formulated without chicken or grain. Protein comes out at 22%, fat 12%, fibre 3.0% and ash 9.0%.

• 2kg or 12kg bag, complete dry food
• Lamb 36.5% (dried, freshly prepared and gravy combined)
• Formulated without chicken or grain, per Vitalin's own description
• Protein 22%, fat 12%, fibre 3.0%, ash 9.0%
• Suitable for adult dogs of every age, including seniors
• Citrus extract included, which Vitalin credit with supporting dental health

What the label does not say. Vitalin describe this explicitly as a single-protein recipe without chicken, but our own systems had a chicken flag attached to this product from an earlier data pass that does not match the actual ingredient list — we've written this page from the composition itself, which lists lamb as the only named meat and no chicken anywhere in it.

Who it's for: owners of a dog avoiding chicken specifically, looking for a genuinely single-protein lamb recipe rather than one where chicken is quietly present elsewhere in the list.
