Plaque builds up whether or not a dog will tolerate a toothbrush, which is the whole reason dental foams and gels exist - they get into the same areas a brush would reach without needing a dog to accept one. It's a compromise product, aimed at owners for whom brushing simply isn't happening.

Vet's Best Advanced Dental Foam uses a unique oxygenated enzyme formula that can help prevent dental plaque and tartar build-up, and includes natural ingredients such as geranium, peppermint and clove oil to support oral hygiene and fresh breath. It's squirted into the dog's mouth and massaged around the gum line, reaching areas a toothbrush can struggle with.

• Oxygenated enzyme formula
• Contains geranium, peppermint and clove oil
• Squirted in and massaged around the gum line
• No brushing required
• Aimed at plaque, tartar and fresh breath

One thing worth knowing. This is a maintenance product for everyday oral hygiene, not a treatment for an existing dental problem - if your dog already has visibly inflamed gums, loose teeth or bad breath that's suddenly worse, that's a vet check rather than something a foam will fix on its own.

Who it's for: owners whose dog won't tolerate a toothbrush and want a no-brushing way to support day-to-day dental hygiene between check-ups.
