Plush toys usually die at the seam. A dog finds the stitching, works one thread loose and the stuffing is out on the carpet within the hour, which is why an ordinary soft toy is a five-minute product for a determined chewer. Tuffy build the other way round, with layers bonded together, several rows of stitching, and protective webbing laid over the seams so that the weak point is the reinforced part rather than the exposed one.

No toy is indestructible. Tuffy toys last far longer than ordinary plush, but a dog who sets out to dismantle something will get there eventually, and none of this is a chew toy to leave with an unsupervised dog. Check the seams every so often and retire it once the webbing goes, in the same way you would retire a frayed lead.
