This is goats' milk, not a formula powder and not a cow's milk drink. Goats' milk has smaller fat globules than cow's milk, which is the reason breeders have used it for decades and the reason it usually sits better with a dog. The carton is a screw top, so it is a drink you open and put back in the fridge rather than a sachet you commit to.

The composition is short: goats' milk, inulin at 10.7g per kg (a prebiotic fibre at 1.1%), green tea extract at 292mg per kg, glucosamine sulphate at 930mg per kg and chondroitin sulphate at 470mg per kg. The analysis reads moisture 93%, crude protein 1.4%, fat content 1.7%, crude ash 0.5% and crude fibre 0.1%. It is labelled a complementary pet food for dogs, with no artificial ingredients, colours, flavours or preservatives, and it is for dogs aged 12 months and over.

Easier to digest is not the same thing as lactose free. This is milk and it contains lactose, and the pack declares it. Goats' milk suits most dogs better than cow's milk, but a dog that genuinely cannot handle lactose will not be fine with this one either. Start with a splash over food rather than the carton, and see what happens before you make it a daily thing.

Who it's for: Dogs over a year old who need persuading to drink in hot weather, fussy eaters who will take a dry meal if something is poured over it, and older dogs whose owners like the idea of the joint extras. Not for puppies, who have their own version.
