Milk for cats, which is not the same thing as milk. Adult cats lose most of their ability to digest lactose after weaning, which is why a saucer of ordinary milk gives so many of them diarrhoea. Toplife take the lactose down and add taurine.

The composition is one line: low fat lactose reduced cows milk. Protein 3.2%, fat 1.7%, moisture 89%. Taurine is the only additive and it is the right one, since cats cannot synthesise it. The bottle keeps at room temperature until opened and then three days in the fridge.

The calorie figure on the label does not add up and we have left it as printed. A product that is 89% water and 1.7% fat cannot be 351 kcal per 100g, and we would rather show you the published number with that caveat than quietly adjust it. Treat this as a treat regardless: the pack's own guidance is that treats should be 10% of daily intake.

Who it's for: cats who have always wanted the milk jug, and owners who would rather give them something that will not upset them.
