How to measure

Decide where the mat will go - beside a cat tree, under a bed or across a whole room.
Measure that floor area with a tape measure.
Choose the mat that covers it; sizes are given as width x length.

Full description

Cats scratch to stretch out the whole length of the body and to strip the dead outer sheath off their claws, and a lot of them want to do it horizontally rather than up a post. Those are the cats who shred stair carpet and the edge of a rug. Giving them a designated floor surface, in the room where they are already doing it, is what actually stops the damage.

This is a woven mat that lies flat, so there is nothing to topple, tip over or bolt to a wall, and it can go exactly where the scratching happens rather than where a post would look tidy. The weave is an imitation sisal yarn rather than natural sisal fibre, and we would rather tell you that than let the product name imply otherwise. It gives the same coarse, catchable texture and sheds less, though natural sisal wears longer.
