Cats fall out over floor space and make peace over height. A tall tree with several levels gives a second cat somewhere to be that is not the first cat's spot, and gives a nervous cat a position from which they can watch the room without being in the middle of it. It is a piece of furniture that quietly solves a social problem as much as it solves a boredom one.

The levels are spaced to be climbed between rather than jumped in one go, and the posts running between them are there to be scratched, so a cat who has stretched up a post on the way to a perch has considerably less reason to start on the arm of the sofa. The widened perch is the detail that matters most here, because standard cat tree platforms are sized for a small cat, and a larger one ends up with their back legs hanging off the edge and stops bothering with it. Three colours are listed: light grey, grey and yellow.

• Several levels to climb between
• Widened top perch sized for larger cats
• Scratching posts built into the structure
• Three colours: light grey, grey and yellow
• Works as scratching outlet, lookout and bed in one

On measurements. No overall height or platform dimensions are published for this tower, and those two figures are exactly what decides whether a large cat uses it. Whatever the size, fix a tall tree to the wall or set it into a corner, because a tree that rocks under a heavy landing stops being used.

Who it's for: Homes with a large cat, or with two cats who need vertical space in order to keep out of each other's way.
