Full description

A biscuit named after its meat usually leads with a headline percentage worth checking, because the name on the front and the number on the composition list don't always agree with each other.

These are gravy-flavoured bone-shaped biscuits, built mainly from cereals, oils and fats, vegetable derivatives, minerals and various sugars, with beef meal making up 1.5% of the recipe. Colourants are added as a sensory additive.

On the beef content. Despite being named 'Gravy Bones Beef', beef meal accounts for just 1.5% of the recipe by Pointer's own composition list — the bulk of the biscuit is cereals, oils and fats. Treat this as a gravy-flavoured everyday biscuit rather than a beef-based one.

Who it's for: owners wanting a basic, everyday gravy-flavoured biscuit at a low price, rather than a treat built around a genuine meat content.

Pointer Gravy Bones Beef

Why we chose it

We think a shopper deserves to know the beef content is 1.5% before they buy it expecting something meatier, which is exactly why the candid note above exists. It's still a perfectly reasonable everyday biscuit at the price it sells for.
