Bowls travel. A cat pushes hers across the tiles chasing the last piece of kibble, a dog drinks like a fire hose and leaves a puddle, and by the end of the week the skirting board is damp. A silicone mat with a raised lip deals with both problems at once: the bowls stay roughly where you put them, and whatever comes out of them stays on the mat.

It is moulded from food-grade silicone in one piece, so there is no seam for water to creep into and nothing to peel apart in the wash. The lip around the edge does the containing and the textured underside does the gripping, on tile, laminate or hardwood. Cleaning is a wipe or a rinse under the tap, and the surface is stain-resistant, so beetroot-coloured wet food does not leave a permanent souvenir.

• Food-grade silicone, moulded in one piece
• Raised lip to contain spilled water and kibble
• Textured underside grips tile, laminate and hardwood
• Fully waterproof and stain-resistant
• Wipes or rinses clean in seconds
• Three printed designs: My Feeling Spot, Lazy Kitten and Strolling Kitten

Worth knowing. It does not. The three options are prints, not dimensions, and we hold no measurements for the mat itself. We would rather lose the sale than have you unpack a mat narrower than your bowls.

Who it's for: Households with a splashy drinker or a bowl-pushing cat, especially on wooden floors that will not forgive standing water.
