Most dog bandanas tie in a knot at the throat, which either works loose or sits too tight, and a second thing around the neck is one thing too many on an animal already wearing a collar. This one has a sleeve sewn along its top edge instead. Thread the collar through, buckle it up, and the scarf hangs where it should without adding anything at all.

It is reversible, with a different face on each side, so one piece gives two looks depending on which way round you thread it. The print is a traditional kimono floral, offered with cherry blossom, rhombus and tassel finishes in red or blue, and finished with a navy blossom trim. Because it hangs from the collar rather than being tied on, it does not creep round to sit under the chin halfway through a walk.

• Slip-through sleeve threads onto an existing collar
• Reversible, two designs in one piece
• Kimono floral prints in red and blue
• Cherry blossom, rhombus and tassel options
• Navy blossom trim
• Sizes S, M, L and XL

It needs a collar to work. There is no tie and no fastening of its own, so this only suits a dog or cat who already wears a buckle or clip collar you can thread it onto.

What the options mean. Sizes run from M to XL — £14.99 for the smallest, £19.99 for the largest.

Who it's for: Dogs and cats who already wear a collar full time, and owners who want something smarter for a family occasion without adding another strap.
