Shade is the thing people forget to pack. A dog lying out on a campsite pitch or a hot lawn with nowhere cooler to go will simply keep lying there, and heat builds faster in a stationary animal than most owners expect. A pop-up mesh dome gives them somewhere shaded with air moving through it, which is a very different proposition from a car boot or a zipped-up crate.

The half-mesh construction is the useful part. Solid fabric where you want shade cast, mesh where you want a through-draught, rather than a fully enclosed tent that turns into an oven by mid-afternoon. It pops up on a sprung frame with no poles to thread, zips closed so a nervous dog or a cat cannot wander off while you are setting up camp, and collapses flat into a disc that slides behind a car seat.

• Pop-up sprung frame, no poles to assemble
• Half-mesh panels for shade and through-ventilation
• Zip closure to keep pets contained
• Folds flat for transport and storage
• One size, listed as L Code
• Two colours: black half mesh and blue half mesh

We cannot give you dimensions. Shade is not air conditioning either, so treat this as shelter from sun rather than a fix for a genuinely hot day.

Who it's for: Campers, caravanners and garden-afternoon owners who need a packable shaded spot for a dog or cat.
