An unrestrained dog in a car is a distraction on a good day and a hazard on a bad one, and the Highway Code is clear that dogs must be suitably restrained while you are driving. A loose dog also tends to pace from window to window, which winds them up and winds the driver up along with them. Giving them a defined place to be, anchored to the seat, quietly solves both of those problems at once.

The cover is quilted rather than plainly padded, which stops the filling migrating into one corner after a month of a dog turning circles in it, and the walls are bolstered so there is something to brace against on a roundabout. On what a booster seat is and is not. It restrains a settled dog and stops them wandering the cabin. It is not a crash-tested harness or a certified restraint, and nothing at this price is. Clip the tether to a harness and never to a collar, because a tether on a collar does damage in a sudden stop rather than preventing it. At 47cm across, this suits small dogs and stops well short of a medium one.
