A treat with no meat, egg, wheat or dairy in it isn't just a dietary preference for some owners — it's the only category of treat a dog with several confirmed intolerances can actually be given.

Pawtato's Ocean Treats are built on sweet potato flour and peas, with kelp, spirulina and wakame seaweed each at 0.7%, and are entirely free from meat, egg, wheat, grains and dairy. They're shaped like sea creatures and coloured naturally rather than with added colourants. The analysis is given as a range rather than one fixed figure: protein at least 1.5%, fat at least 1%, fibre up to 6%, moisture up to 15%, with ash varying by the colour of the piece (up to 5% for orange and brown chews, 7% for green, 14% for white).

• Free from meat, egg, wheat, grains and dairy
• Kelp, spirulina and wakame at 0.7% each
• Protein at least 1.5%, fat at least 1%, fibre up to 6%
• Ash content varies by chew colour (up to 5-14%)
• Not suitable for puppies under 4 months
• 140g pack

What the analysis doesn't give as one number. Because the different coloured pieces in the pack carry slightly different ash content, there isn't a single exact figure to quote the way there is for most foods on this shelf — what's given are minimums, maximums and a range depending on colour, rather than one precise panel.

Who it's for: owners of a dog with a confirmed sensitivity to meat, egg, wheat or dairy, wanting a genuinely plant-based treat rather than one merely marketed as natural.
