Enrichment feeding has made pate treats popular for a reason that has nothing to do with taste — a smear of pate spread inside a toy takes a dog far longer to work through than the treat itself would take to eat straight from a spoon.

This is a single-protein pate: 94% duck, with rice flour (4%) and a small addition of vitamins and minerals making up the rest. It runs 12.6% protein and 12.1% fat, and Paddock Farm add no additives or preservatives. It comes in a 400G tub, is suitable for freezing, and once opened needs refrigerating and using within 5 days.

On "grain and gluten free." The gluten-free half of that claim holds — rice doesn't contain gluten — but it isn't grain free: rice flour makes up 4% of the recipe. It's a small amount next to 94% duck, but it's there, and a "grain free" description on its own would be wrong. It's also a treat, not a meal replacement, so it isn't meant to be fed as a dog's whole dinner.

Who it's for: owners of a puppy from 8 weeks or an adult dog who want a single-protein, additive-free pate for enrichment feeding or as a topper — not owners specifically avoiding all grains.
