Full description

Antlers and bones are hard enough that some dogs crack teeth on them, and a softer natural chew exists specifically to give a determined chewer something to work at without that particular risk.

This is 100% camel, cut into pieces of 12-15cm, sold as a natural product where colour and exact size vary batch to batch. Paddock Farm's analysis shows 76.11% crude protein, 19.33% crude fat, 6.45% crude ash and 5.98% moisture. It's suitable from 12 weeks with supervision, and Paddock Farm ask that fresh water is left out alongside it.

On choosing a size. Paddock Farm's own guidance is to choose the correct size of chew for the dog, but the card supplied to us doesn't give a weight-to-size chart — use ordinary judgement the way you would with any chew that varies piece to piece as a natural product.

Who it's for: owners of a determined chewer who wants a novel protein and a softer alternative to a bone or antler.

Why we chose it

Camel is a genuinely novel protein for almost every dog in the UK, which makes it a useful option for an elimination diet as well as a chew choice. Being softer than antlers or bones matters for a dog that's already chipped a tooth on one.
