Full description

Beef remains one of the more common proteins in a dog's existing diet, which makes it an odd choice for an elimination trial but a perfectly sensible one for a dog with no known sensitivities who simply does well on it.

Each medallion is 87% beef (17% of that muscle, tripe, kidneys, lungs, liver and heart), with chicory at 3.4% and broccoli at 3%, plus carrot, apple, salmon oil and hemp oil. It's gently cooked at 72°C, coming out at 15.2% protein and 10.6% fat.

What the label does not say. Nutriment's feeding chart by dog size and weight lives on the pack rather than on this card, so use it directly rather than estimating from the analysis alone. It also needs freezer storage throughout, with defrosting before serving.

Who it's for: owners feeding a fresh or gently-cooked diet who want beef as the protein and portion control built in, rather than weighing out servings from a larger block.

Why we chose it

Genuinely varied organ content — tripe, kidneys, lungs, liver and heart alongside muscle — is closer to a whole-prey balance than a beef mince product usually offers, and pre-portioned medallions take the weighing out of it entirely. Gently cooked rather than raw is also a sensible middle ground if raw handling isn't something you want in the kitchen.
