Some dogs are managed on food chosen for what it leaves out rather than what it tastes of, and a diet aimed at the pancreas, liver or kidneys is exactly that kind of purchase — usually made on a vet's advice rather than a whim.

This is a frozen raw recipe built from 80% fresh meat and bone, split 50% beef green tripe and 30% chicken with bone, with carrots, butternut squash, sesame and sunflower seeds, kelp, blueberry powder and cherry powder making up the rest. It is sold as a complete food for adult dogs, in a 1.4kg frozen chub. Protein comes out at 12.7%, fat 7.9%, ash 2.4% and fibre 1.2%, with moisture at 73.2% — typical of a raw recipe rather than a dry one.

On the name. Nutriment name this recipe for purine and phosphorus support, but the card gives us no purine or phosphorus figure to compare it against a standard recipe — we cannot tell you by how much either is reduced, only that this is the recipe the brand markets for that purpose. If your dog has a diagnosed condition, this should be fed on your vet's specific advice rather than the name alone.

Who it's for: owners of adult dogs on a vet-recommended low-purine or low-phosphorus diet, feeding raw and wanting a complete recipe built around that restriction.
