Measure neck girth: run a tape right round the neck where a collar sits.
Measure neck length: from the base of the skull down to the shoulders.

Full description

Stiffness in an older dog often shows up first in the neck: a reluctance to lower the head to the bowl, or a slow, careful turn instead of a quick one. A padded brace will not treat the cause, but it does steady the neck and take some load off it, which can make resting and recovering more comfortable while whatever is going on is being properly looked at by someone qualified.

It is neoprene with padding through it, so it cushions rather than splints, and the material breathes enough to be worn for a stretch without the coat underneath going clammy. The fastening is adjustable, which matters here more than on most garments: too loose and it does nothing at all, too tight and you are restricting a neck. Snug and no more is the target, with room to slide two fingers underneath comfortably.
