The hair is the point of these, and it is also the reason half the people who pick the bag up put it straight back down. NAW clearly know that, because they say on the pack that it might make your stomach flip.

What is inside is beef ears with the hair still attached and, on NAW's own statement, nothing else at all - 100% beef, completely unprocessed, gluten and grain free. Because there is no rendering or reforming involved, the analysis reads like the animal rather than like a recipe: protein at a minimum of 85.4% against fat of 4.53%, with moisture 6.77% and ash 3.28%. There are six in a pack and NAW clear them for dogs over 4 months of age.

• Six ears per pack
• 100% beef, with the hair left on
• Protein a minimum of 85.4%, fat 4.53%
• Moisture 6.77% and ash 3.28%
• Gluten and grain free, and described by NAW as completely unprocessed
• For dogs over 4 months of age

On the dewormer claim. NAW say the hair acts as a natural dewormer. Nothing has been supplied to us that supports it, and it is certainly not a worming treatment: a dog carrying a worm burden needs a licensed product from your vet, and feeding chews in place of one is exactly how a problem gets missed. The rest of what is claimed here is simply the analysis, which is on the pack and checkable. No weight per ear is published either, so six is a count and not a quantity - a big dog will get through one in a sitting, and a small dog probably should not have a whole one in a day.

Who it's for: owners of dogs over four months who want a single-ingredient chew with a published analysis, and who are not squeamish about what a real ear looks like.
