Full description
Height is what makes a scratching post work. A cat scratching is stretching as much as sharpening — the whole point is to reach up and pull down through the shoulders — so a post too short to stretch on gets ignored, and the sofa keeps its job.
This one is 80cm tall on a 39 x 39cm base, which is a proper full stretch for most cats. The scratching surface is sisal, which is the material cats reliably take to, and the base is a soft grey fabric that Happy Pet have chosen to sit reasonably in a normal room rather than look like kennel equipment. There is a small play ball at the top.
- 80 x 39 x 39cm overall
- Sisal scratching surface
- Soft grey fabric base
- Small play ball at the top
- Full-height post for a proper stretch
Where you put it decides whether it gets used. A post in a spare room gets ignored; a post next to whatever your cat is currently scratching gets used, and can be moved gradually afterwards. Cats also scratch to mark, so it wants to be somewhere they actually spend time rather than tucked away. If your cat is already scratching furniture, put this directly beside the spot rather than across the room and expect a week or two of overlap. Happy Pet publish no weight limit, so this is a post for scratching rather than a tree to climb.
Who it's for: any cat that scratches, particularly indoor cats, and owners trying to redirect one away from a sofa arm.

Why we chose it
80cm is tall enough for a full stretch, which is the thing most cheap posts get wrong — a short post is a post a cat walks past. Sisal is the surface cats actually choose.
