An undercoat that's never raked out doesn't just shed more, it insulates less — a packed undercoat traps heat against the skin exactly when a double-coated dog needs to lose it, not hold onto it.

This rake has rotating, rounded-tip stainless steel teeth designed to reach skin-deep without scratching, built to tease through knots and tangles while pulling dead hair out of the undercoat. Mikki's method is to run it through the coat with no more pressure than you'd use on your own hair, gently sawing back and forth to loosen tangles, then finishing with a Mikki brush to layer the coat. This is the Large size, aimed at large double-coated breeds such as Akitas, Alaskan Malamutes, Huskies, Newfoundlands, German Shepherds and Retrievers.

• Rotating, rounded-tip stainless steel teeth
• Reaches skin-deep without scratching
• Removes dead undercoat hair and loosens tangles
• Large size, for large double-coated breeds
• Plastic handle with TPR grip

A rake is step one, not the whole groom. Mikki's own routine finishes with a separate brush to layer the coat afterwards — this rake is built for the undercoat specifically, and using it alone without that follow-up step leaves the top coat looking as untidy as it did before you started.

Who it's for: owners of a large double-coated breed dealing with a packed undercoat and shedding, wanting a tool built for skin-deep tangles rather than a general-purpose brush.
