Pet coats and jumpers are sized mainly by back length, with chest girth as a second check. Back length matters most for coverage.
How to measure
- Back length: measure along the spine from the base of the neck (collar area) to the base of the tail.
- Chest: measure around the widest part of the ribcage, behind the front legs.
- If the two measurements suggest different sizes, choose by back length and allow for the chest.

Full description
There is a particular kind of small dog who sleeps better with something on. The close, all-over fit of a pyjama suit is mildly swaddling, and for a nervous puppy or an anxious little dog that gentle pressure is calming in the way a snug bed is. These are cut thin enough for that to be the point rather than the warmth, so they work in a warm room as well as a cool one.
The fabric is a lightweight gingham check, finished with a turned collar and contrast piping down the seams, and it covers the body and the tops of the legs. Full coverage does two useful things beyond the look of it: it keeps a coat clean between baths, and it noticeably cuts the amount of hair that ends up on the bedding. It pulls on over the head, fastens along the back and goes in the machine.
