Full description
A dog doesn't get to take its coat off on a hot day, so most of the work of keeping cool falls to whatever it's lying on.
This is a self-cooling mat filled with a pressure-activated gel — no electricity, no refrigeration and no water needed. Body weight against the mat activates the cooling effect, and Kingdom Pet say it provides up to 3 hours of relief. It measures 40 x 60cm.
- 40 x 60cm mat
- Pressure-activated gel, no power or water needed
- Up to 3 hours of cooling relief per the manufacturer
- Non-toxic gel fill
- Suits crates, kennels and the car
On the numbers. "Up to 3 hours" is Kingdom Pet's own figure rather than one we've timed ourselves, and how long it actually lasts will depend on the room temperature and how much of the dog's weight is pressing on it. There's no published weight limit for the mat, so a very large dog may not activate all of it evenly.
Who it's for: owners looking for a crate, car or kennel mat for warm weather that doesn't need a plug or a freezer, for a dog around the 40 x 60cm size of mat.

Why we chose it
No power and no freezer means it works in the boot of a car as easily as in a crate at home, which is the whole appeal of this style of mat over an ice-pack version. It's also one of the smaller sizes on the shelf, so it suits a car or crate rather than a full bed.
