A kitten grows fast in its first months, which is why a kitten food carries a noticeably richer nutrient profile than the same brand's adult recipe.

IAMS for Vitality is built around fresh chicken (15%) plus dried chicken and turkey (38%, of which 23% is named as chicken), with fat set high at 21% against protein at 37% — both higher than the equivalent adult recipe, reflecting a kitten's energy needs. DHA is added at 0.18%, which Iams link to brain and vision development, alongside taurine at 0.22%. The kibble also carries a fibre blend of prebiotics and dried beet pulp for digestion, and the branding calls this kitten's '7 signs of healthy vitality' — Iams' own marketing language for what the recipe is meant to deliver.

• 2kg bag, complete dry food for kittens
• Fresh chicken 15%; dried chicken and turkey 38% (23% named as chicken)
• Protein 37%, fat 21%, crude fibre 1.4%, crude ash 7.5%
• DHA 0.18% and taurine 0.22%
• Vitamin A, D3 and E added, plus copper, iodine, manganese and zinc
• Prebiotic and beet-pulp fibre blend for digestion

On the branding. '7 signs of healthy vitality' is Iams' own phrase for the benefits of this recipe, not an independently measured claim — the actual numbers behind it are the ones above (DHA, taurine, protein, fat), and it's worth judging the food on those rather than the slogan on the bag.

Who it's for: kittens on a growth diet, and owners who want DHA and taurine levels stated on the label rather than assumed.
