Not for every dog
Hollings are explicit that these do not suit puppies, dogs with poor teeth, or elderly dogs, and on a chew this hard that is worth taking at face value. Feed them supervised, somewhere you do not mind a greasy patch, with water down — and because they are a natural product the ears genuinely vary in size, so look at each one and decide it is a sensible size for your dog before you hand it over.
Why we chose it
Fifty at a time is the only rational way to buy pig ears if your dog has them regularly, and the per-ear price is the entire reason this box exists. It also has the shortest ingredients list in the whole treat aisle: pork.

Full description
A dog that is chewing is a dog doing something, and that is most of the point of a chew like this. Hollings' argument for an air-dried ear over a rawhide is that there is nothing to it but the ear: one ingredient, dried rather than processed, and a chew that lasts long enough to be worth handing over.
The composition is a single word — pork. The analysis runs protein 60%, oils and fats 22.5%, crude fibre 1.5%, crude ash 3% and moisture 7%, so this is a high-protein, high-fat chew rather than anything that stands in for a meal. It is a complementary food, which is the label's way of saying it belongs alongside dinner and comes off the day's calorie count rather than adding to it.

Who it's for: households with more than one dog, or one serious chewer, who get through ears fast enough that fifty at a time is the sensible way to buy them.

Common questions
How many ears are in the box?
Fifty.
What is actually in them?
Pork. That is the whole composition Hollings publish — one ingredient, air dried.
Can I give one to my puppy?
No. Hollings state these are not suitable for puppies, nor for dogs with poor teeth or elderly dogs.
Will they all be the same size?
No. They are a natural product and Hollings say the ears vary, so check each one is a sensible size for your dog before feeding it.
Do they replace a meal?
No. It is a complementary food, so it sits alongside normal meals — and treats count towards the day's calories, so trim dinner slightly on a day they have one.
