Full description
A dog that backs out of a collar the moment it's startled needs something that can't be slipped, which is the entire case for a slip lead over a collar-and-lead combination.
This one combines the collar and lead into a single soft-touch rope, 1.4cm thick and 150cm long, that slips over the dog's head and tightens to hold - but only up to a point, because Hemm & Boo fit a metal slider specifically to stop it choking the dog by over-tightening.
- 5/8in x 60in (1.4cm x 150cm)
- Soft-touch woven rope construction
- Metal slider to prevent over-tightening
- Combined collar-and-lead in one
- Suited to training, recall work and dogs that slip a standard collar
- Colour: orange
One thing worth knowing. A slip lead relies on being fitted correctly - too loose and it won't hold, too tight and the anti-choke slider is doing more work than it should have to. Hemm & Boo don't publish a fitting guide beyond the length and thickness given here, so it's worth checking the fit by hand before a first walk rather than assuming.
Who it's for: owners of dogs that back out of a normal collar, or anyone doing structured lead training who wants one piece of kit rather than a separate collar and lead.

Why we chose it
The metal slider is the detail that matters here - a slip lead without one just tightens as far as the dog pulls, and this one has a built-in stop. It's a sensible, low-cost way to handle a dog that's worked out how to back out of a collar.
